Coach Reid Backs Kelce’s Commitment
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has firmly pushed back against suggestions that star tight end Travis Kelce is losing focus due to his upcoming wedding to pop sensation Taylor Swift. Despite the buzz surrounding the couple's personal life during the NFL training camp, Reid insists the veteran player is as dedicated as ever.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, June 12, the 68-year-old coach commended Kelce’s attendance record. "He has been present for the majority of the offseason, if not the entirety of it," Reid noted. "He participated in the mandatory camp and performed well. It is great to see him back and fully engaged."
Balancing Personal Life and Pro Sports
Reid emphasized that Kelce remains highly motivated for the new season. Addressing the wedding plans—the couple announced their engagement in August 2025—Reid drew a lighthearted parallel to his own experience:
«You see no distractions with that and the wedding. It’s like when I got married, my wife handled everything, so I simply followed her lead. He appears to be quite focused on his job.»
When pressed on whether he would be attending the ceremony, the coach humorously deflected, stating he "can’t talk about it."
Surprise Appearance at the Songwriters Hall of Fame
The coach's comments followed a notable appearance by Kelce at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony in New York City on Thursday, June 11. Despite the Chiefs being in the middle of a mandatory minicamp, Kelce traveled to the Marriott Marquis Hotel to support his fiancée.
During her moving acceptance speech, Swift expressed deep gratitude toward her family for their sacrifices in support of her career. Reflecting on her move from Pennsylvania to Nashville, she shared:
«It was easy to choose songwriting over everything else, but it couldn’t have been easy for my parents and my brother to relocate our entire family so that I could hone my craft. They uprooted their lives to move me to Music City, and I will never be able to express my gratitude for that.»
The star was supported at the event by her parents, Andrea and Scott, her brother Austin, and future mother-in-law, Donna Kelce.
