The McCaffrey Connection

Olivia Culpo has frequently spotlighted her in-laws on her social media platforms, endearing them to her followers. The model, who wed San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey in June 2024, has shared several heartwarming moments with his parents, Lisa and Ed McCaffrey.

In a viral TikTok from October 2023, Culpo humorously captioned a dance video with her mother-in-law, Lisa, writing, «Find a mother in law who matches your post game energy.» Their relationship appears to be close, with Lisa even appearing in a “Get Ready With Me” segment where she playfully questioned Culpo about her intentions regarding her son. Culpo assured her, «It’s the real thing. It’s the real deal.» Notably, the couple announced in March 2025 that they were expecting their first child, and have since expanded their family.

Meet the Parents: Lisa and Ed McCaffrey

Lisa McCaffrey is well-known as a podcast host, co-leading the “Your Mom” podcast alongside sports reporter Ashley Adamson. Reflecting on her approach to raising athletes, Lisa emphasized in a 2015 interview with The Denver Post that she never pressured her sons into sports. She noted, «I want them to be involved in what they love. If that’s books or music, that’s a good thing, too.»

Ed McCaffrey boasts a distinguished career as a former professional football player. He served as an NFL wide receiver for 13 seasons, playing for the New York Giants, the San Francisco 49ers, and spending a significant tenure with the Denver Broncos. Christian has often credited his father for instilling a disciplined athletic foundation early on.

Recalling his childhood, Christian shared on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, «He had us doing dynamic warmups dude. No sodas, bedtime 7:30.» He added that while they were allowed normal childhood experiences, their father set clear expectations: «When it came to sports and to school, it was, ‘Hey if you want to be here, here are the things you need to do.’»

The McCaffrey Siblings

The McCaffrey family tree is deeply rooted in athletics, with Christian's brothers also pursuing football:

  • Dylan McCaffrey: Following his tenure as a quarterback at the University of Michigan, Dylan continued his football career at the University of Northern Colorado.
  • Luke McCaffrey: The youngest brother is also a football player, having played at the University of Nebraska before transferring to Rice University, where he transitioned to the wide receiver position.
