A Questionable Return
In a recent exclusive interview, Below Deck Mediterranean star Joe Bradley shared his candid perspective on why he believes his castmate, Nathan Gallagher, should have opted out of the latest season. While Bradley acknowledges the professional dedication required in the yachting industry, he feels that Gallagher’s current life circumstances made his return to the show a detriment to his well-being.
Bradley expressed a nuanced view of his colleague, stating, «I love the fact that he’s a working man and he fights for his family and he’s put himself in that position financially to fight for his family. I can’t take that from him. I admire that as much as I don’t like him. I admire fighting for your family.»
The Burden of Balancing Work and Fatherhood
Despite this respect, Bradley is convinced that Gallagher is struggling to maintain balance while raising a newborn with his girlfriend, Gael Cameron. According to Bradley, the pressure is clearly taking a toll:
- Gallagher appeared visibly overwhelmed by the demands of the show.
- The separation from his family for the duration of the season is more difficult than it appears on the surface.
- Bradley believes the environment of the show is ultimately «detrimental» to Gallagher's current life stage.
As for their personal dynamic, Bradley confirmed that there is currently no communication between them, noting that he intentionally chose not to respond to a previous message from Gallagher as a way to «give him a taste of his own medicine.»
Reflecting on Behavioral Patterns
Bradley admitted that seeing the season back from a viewer's perspective provided a sense of clarity. He pointed to specific instances where Gallagher’s demeanor shifted abruptly, describing the behavior as «alarming.» He suggested that the audience will gain a better understanding of Gallagher’s character—and his apparent struggles with anger—as the season progresses.
Focusing on Personal Growth
Looking toward his own journey on the show, Bradley emphasized that he has made a conscious effort to evolve. He admitted that he was formerly too caught up in romantic entanglements and is now shifting his focus toward professional performance. He also expressed a desire to address past mistakes, specifically mentioning a regretful situation with a former castmate, Victoria, for which he would like to offer a sincere apology.
Bradley concluded by stating his commitment to proving his critics wrong. «I have learned from the situation. I’m really focused on my job right now. I am taming it down [in my romantic life on board] to just being one person. I don’t need to be greedy anymore. I’ve had my fun and I’m just ready to get the job done,» he noted.
