As captured in a video shared by the official Fanatics X account, the duo exchanged sharp words before Brady reached out and struck Paul across the face with an open hand. The situation escalated quickly, requiring New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns to step between the two men to restore order.
Following the event, Brady took to social media to continue the banter, sharing the clip and playfully labeling Paul a “dork.”
The Roots of the Rivalry
This incident is the latest development in a long-standing theatrical feud. The friction reportedly began earlier this year during a February Fanatics event, when Paul claimed that his wrestling background demanded a higher level of athleticism than that of professional football players.
Brady, ever the competitor, addressed the comments at the time, acknowledging that while Paul is a capable athlete, he considered his work in the WWE ring to be nothing more than “very cute.”
Escalating Tensions
The animosity continued to simmer throughout the spring. During a draft event for the 2026 Fanatics Flag Football Classic, Brady issued a warning to the WWE star:
“You might wear a helmet — that ball might get loose in my hand and if you’re not paying attention,”
Brady eventually followed through on that promise during the actual game, intentionally throwing a football at Paul. The moment was widely circulated online, with sports outlets highlighting the ongoing trolling between the two celebrities.
Potential WWE Future for Brady?
Despite the physical confrontations, it appears there might be mutual interest in taking their rivalry to the professional wrestling stage. Just one day before the Fanatics Fest incident, during an appearance on the What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast with Cody Rhodes, the former quarterback expressed a genuine interest in performing in the WWE.
“I think I could get in there for at least one match,” Brady stated, directly addressing WWE leadership with a plea: “Come on, Nick. Make it happen.”
