A Long-Awaited Return

Brittany Mahomes has publicly expressed her joy as her husband, Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, officially returned to the football field. The 30-year-old athlete had been sidelined since the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season due to a significant ACL injury.

On Saturday, July 25, Brittany shared her excitement via her Instagram Stories. By resharing footage of the quarterback arriving at the team's training camp, she wrote: «Seeing him back doing what he loves. So thankful.»

The Road to Recovery

The star quarterback's path back to the gridiron began after he sustained a severe leg injury late in the previous season. The setback forced him to miss the final games of the year, contributing to the Chiefs' absence from the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Following the injury, Mahomes underwent surgery and spent the majority of the offseason focused on a rigorous rehabilitation program.

Focusing on the Regular Season

During a press conference held on Friday, July 24, Mahomes shared his outlook on his return. He confirmed that he received official medical clearance to resume training just two days prior. «He saw the numbers I was putting up and that gave him the comfortability to be fully cleared to practice,» Mahomes explained regarding his physician's decision. «It’s still good to be out there and have bodies around and be able to run the offense. This is just another checkpoint on the schedule.»

Despite his eagerness to play, the veteran quarterback emphasized the importance of patience and continued improvement. He noted that he is committed to the long-term process, stating:

«You have to continue to work. It’s not, like, it’s over and I’m gonna be able to play a game tomorrow. You have to continue to work and get better and better and go through all practice, prove to the coaches and prove to the doctors and everybody that I’m the same quarterback I was, if not better.»

A Disciplined Approach

While Mahomes acknowledged his competitive nature, he stated that the team would prioritize the regular season over the immediate risks of preseason games. The quarterback intends to remain disciplined, noting, «I understand the process of getting myself ready to play, and the regular season is more important. We will, the doctors and coaches will make that decision for me, but I will prepare myself like I’m gonna play.»
