A Farewell to the Pogues

The conclusion of Outer Banks served as a monumental task for the production team, requiring a delicate balance of shock, tragedy, and resolution. For star Caroline Arapoglou, the finale stands as a heartfelt tribute to the devoted fanbase that has followed the series across its five-season journey.

«The whole finale is just such a love letter to everyone who has ridden with us for these past five seasons,» Arapoglou shared. «It’s a show where you just want to see the Pogues get a happy ending — and I think that was the right way to end it.»

The 35-year-old actress noted that the final episodes successfully captured the spirit of the series' debut, creating a «bittersweet» atmosphere on set. She highlighted that bringing the cast—both Pogues and Kooks—together for the final filming days transformed the work environment into a celebratory event.

The Evolution of Rose Cameron

Arapoglou’s character, Rose, remained a central figure throughout the final season. Despite the morally ambiguous nature of her actions, the actress believes the character's core motivation was always grounded in loyalty.

«I’ve always maintained throughout the entire run of the show that Rose really did love Ward and she really does care about the kids,» she explained. «Her methods might—on the surface—be a little bit morally gray, but for me, the heart of her has always been that she really does care about the family. She really is ride or die for the Camerons, and it was nice to see that softer side of her a little bit this year.»

Behind-the-Scenes Challenges

One of the most intense moments for the character occurred during a dangerous encounter with Groff. Arapoglou revealed that filming this scene was particularly challenging as she was secretly pregnant at the time.

«I was pregnant for the duration of this season, and at the point of filming that, I hadn’t told anybody. I remember getting that scene and knowing it was going to be quite stunt heavy and thinking, ‘OK, I have to tell them what’s going on,’» she recalled, noting that her stunt double stepped in to handle the more strenuous physical requirements of the scene.

The Future of the Franchise

As the series wraps up, Arapoglou expressed satisfaction with Rose’s trajectory, noting that she hopes her character finally finds a moment of peace after years of complex schemes involving gold and family power struggles.

Regarding the possibility of the Outer Banks universe continuing, the actress didn't rule out a return to the role:

«Our writers are so good at what they do. They have all kinds of ideas. If they were to come up with some kind of a spinoff, I would definitely take that call.»

The entire series is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
