Following the conclusion of the first season of Fox's Nation’s Dumbest, Chase “Huddy” Hudson is reflecting on his journey to becoming the show’s inaugural winner. After Hilaria Baldwin’s departure in the September 16 episode, Hudson emerged victorious and insists he is comfortable with the unique crown he earned.
“I’m wearing that title with pride, for sure,” the 24-year-old told reporters. “I don’t think that it was a bad thing. I think that it’s going to be a good thing in the long run.” He noted that while he didn't initially know what to expect from the format, he was encouraged by the success of international versions of the show, where former participants often transitioned into brand ambassadorships and commercial work.
The Reality of Trivia Challenges
Addressing the difficulty of the show’s trivia rounds, Hudson explained that the unpredictable nature of the questions made traditional preparation nearly impossible. “You can’t even study for it,” he remarked. “They’re spinning a wheel on a million random questions from a million different places.”
Despite the randomness, Hudson admitted he did attempt to prepare by focusing on American sports, geography, and historical figures depicted on currency. He noted that some of the questions were designed to stump everyone involved, which helped ease his frustration when he struggled to find the right answers.
Overcoming Personal Obstacles
The competition also offered Hudson a chance to reflect on his experiences with school and his personal challenges with ADHD. He admitted that his academic background was often chaotic, noting that the show’s format—which lacked written prompts—posed a particular challenge for his learning style. "It’s a lot easier for someone with ADHD to understand what the question is if it’s written out in front of them," he shared.
Furthermore, the experience allowed Hudson to address how he is perceived by the public. He expressed a desire to move past being "underestimated" and used the platform to highlight his actual interests, such as fashion, art, and music. He views his participation as a form of reclaiming his narrative, shifting away from external labels toward a more introspective approach to his career.
Future Endeavors
Looking beyond the show, Hudson has a busy schedule ahead. He is currently focused on launching his own jewelry brand and is working on new musical projects. Additionally, the artist is actively auditioning for various roles, signaling that he plans to continue pursuing his acting career alongside his other creative ventures.
