Reflecting on a Difficult Past

Collin Gosselin has taken a moment to revisit his childhood experiences on the hit reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8. Now 22 years old, he recently shared a nostalgic video clip on Instagram featuring himself as a young boy appearing visibly distressed during a segment of the show.

In his heartfelt caption, Collin offered a message to his younger self:

«If I could go back and talk to the kid I used to be, I’d tell him that we survived more than we ever should have had to, and one day, we’d find the strength to turn that pain into purpose.»

The Journey to Writing His Memoir

The release of his tell-all memoir has forced Collin to confront segments of his history that he had previously kept private. He noted the difficulty of being vulnerable but emphasized the importance of speaking up about experiences that were once silenced. He also expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, stating,

«I don’t think I’ll ever have the right words to thank everyone who has reached out, shown me love, or trusted me with a piece of their own story. The kindness and support I’ve received have meant more than you’ll ever know.»

Family Dynamics and Custody Struggles

Within the pages of his new book, Collin opens up about his upbringing alongside his seven siblings—twins Mady and Cara, and fellow sextuplets Joel, Aeden, Hannah, Alexis, and Leah. A significant portion of his account focuses on the alleged abuse he suffered under the care of his mother, Kate Gosselin.

Following the 2009 divorce of Jon and Kate Gosselin, Kate received primary custody of all eight children. At the age of 12, Collin was placed in the Fairmount Behavioral Health System in Philadelphia due to reported behavioral challenges. Eventually, his father, Jon Gosselin, pursued custody and successfully secured legal guardianship of both Collin and his sister Hannah, while the other children remained with Kate.
