Prioritizing Safety Above All
Country music star Ella Langley has broken her silence regarding her decision to cancel a scheduled concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 9, citing a significant security concern. The 27-year-old singer returned to the stage the following evening in Lubbock, Texas, where she candidly addressed the incident with her fans.
During her set, footage captured by concertgoers shows Langley explaining her uncompromising approach to safety. She stated, «When it comes to keeping you safe and making sure that this show is a safe place for us to come and enjoy our music, then it will happen — but the second it feels like it will not, I’m not doing it.» She further emphasized the gravity of the situation by adding, «I’m not doing it, because a concert’s not worth a human life. It’s not.»
Reflecting on a Difficult Decision
Addressing the crowd on Saturday, Langley stood by her choice to halt the previous night's show. She expressed that while she deeply cherishes her career, it does not outweigh the value of human existence or personal well-being.
«I would have made yesterday’s decision 10 billion times over — and I’d do it tomorrow and I’d do it the next day because, while I’m grateful to get to do what I do, it’s not the most important thing in this life,» Langley told the audience. «What’s the most important thing in this life is the people around that love you and are there for you no matter what.»
Moving Forward Without Fear
Despite the frightening nature of the security threat, Langley expressed her determination to continue her tour without letting fear dictate her actions. She made sure to thank her fans for their continued support during such a turbulent time.
«I just want to say thank you so much for showing up tonight. I know yesterday was scary,» she acknowledged. «It was scary for all of us, but we’re just so grateful to be playing this show tonight … and we will never take this for granted. We love it, we love what we do [and] I wouldn’t trade it for the world. This is my favorite thing to do in my life.»
