Reflecting on a Lasting Bond
Two years have passed since the tragic death of Liam Payne, and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has marked the somber anniversary by looking back at their final moments together. The 27-year-old influencer took to Instagram on Friday, October 16, to pay tribute to the late musician through a series of heartfelt posts.
Among the tributes was a nostalgic video clip showing the pair in a playful moment, with Payne lifting Cassidy into the air. The overlay text on the video conveyed her deep sense of loss and gratitude:
«Treasure every moment with the people you love. Forever grateful this was our last hour, our last video, our last moment together. Until the next life, I’ll see you again one day.»
Keeping Memories Alive
In addition to her main feed, Cassidy utilized her Instagram Stories to share further glimpses into their relationship, including several candid selfies. In one poignant post, she wrote, «2 years gone without you here but an eternity of memories. My handsome boy I love you!!!»
Liam Payne passed away in October 2024 at the age of 31 following a fall from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At the time of the incident, the couple had been vacationing in the country together, though Cassidy had returned to the United States just days prior.
The Journey of Healing
In the months following the tragedy, Cassidy has been candid about her grieving process. In an interview with The Sun in February 2025, she expressed the weight of her regret, stating:
«Love is so optimistic, and you just hope that everything will work out at the end. Obviously, if I knew, if I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina. I just never thought this would have happened, that it would turn out the way it did. It still doesn’t feel fully real for me that he’s not here.»
Cassidy also shared on the U.K. program Lorraine that she often finds herself speaking about Payne in the present tense, a practice she views as part of her personal path to healing. She admitted that using the past tense makes the reality of his absence feel far more permanent and difficult to accept.
