Attorney Investigates Contributing Factors in Fatal Collision
Following the tragic death of car influencer James Wehr, legal representatives have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash that occurred in Irvine, California, on Sunday, September 13. Attorney Corey Higgins, representing Wehr’s widow, Emma Wehr, asserts that the accident was exacerbated by dangerous road conditions.
In a public statement, Higgins noted, “At the time of the collision, a significant amount of water was present on the roadway on an otherwise clear night, creating an extremely hazardous condition for any motorist.” The legal team is currently working to determine the origin of the water, the duration of the hazard, and potential liability for the maintenance of the area.
Vehicle Safety and Crash Performance
Beyond road conditions, the investigation is scrutinizing the 2019 McLaren involved in the incident. Higgins stated, “As part of that investigation, we are also examining the crashworthiness of the vehicle that James was driving, including how that vehicle and its safety systems performed during the collision and whether the vehicle provided the level of occupant protection that should be reasonably expected under the circumstances.”
Details of the Accident
The 27-year-old influencer and his passenger, 22-year-old model Alexis “Lexi” Kramer, died when the supercar struck a tree, split into two sections, and ignited. Authorities confirmed that Wehr was operating the vehicle at the time of the collision. It was also revealed that local law enforcement had pulled Wehr over approximately five hours prior to the fatal event.

James Wehr was well-known in the automotive community as the co-founder of the South OC Cars and Coffee event in San Clemente. Alexis Kramer, a native of Lakeland, Florida, had recently traveled to California for the weekend. According to family members, Kramer was under the impression that Wehr was in the process of divorcing his wife at the time of the incident.
