Clarifying Personal Stances
Following the premiere of Love Is Blind season 11, participant John Shannon took to Instagram to address misconceptions regarding his values. During the initial episodes, a dialogue between John and his future fiancée, Sarah Williams, left viewers questioning his stance on sensitive healthcare issues.
In a statement posted on October 16, the 33-year-old clarified his position, noting that the reality show's editing process had condensed the conversation, leading to potential misunderstandings. “Just to clarify a couple of things: I believe in a woman’s right to choose,” John wrote. “I tried to communicate during our conversation that I don’t believe abortion should be illegal.”
Furthermore, John addressed rumors regarding his medical history and personal beliefs. He stated, “I’m not ‘anti-vax.’ My most recent vaccine was the shingles, which was recommended before I started treatment for my multiple sclerosis.”
The Journey to Engagement
Despite the intensity of their pod debates, John emphasized that he and Sarah enjoyed a “wonderful, productive conversation.” The couple, who participated in the Boston-based experiment, navigated several hurdles during their time in the pods.
Their relationship faced a significant test when Sarah overheard John refer to her as his “bottom” choice while leaving the pods. However, they successfully moved past the incident, solidifying their bond through an emotional proposal before meeting in person.
“You’ve been everything that I’ve been looking for, and I think you’re perfect,” Sarah told John through the pod walls. “If you’re not, then that’s OK too.”
Upon their first face-to-face meeting, the connection remained strong. John expressed his enthusiasm, telling Sarah, “I couldn’t be happier. I was thinking of every possible genre of how you look and I was like, ‘There’s literally nothing that would’ve changed my mind.’”
Moving Forward
Looking ahead, John expressed his excitement for their life together, noting in a confessional, “She loves me, I love her. I just can’t wait to, you know, start our journey together.”
Love Is Blind season 11 is currently available to stream on Netflix, with new episodes arriving every Wednesday.
