The family of automotive influencer James Wehr has officially announced a memorial service to honor his life and the life of his friend, Alexis “Lexi” Kramer. Both individuals tragically passed away following a vehicle accident earlier this month.
The event is being organized by South OC Cars and Coffee, an organization co-founded by James and his father, Simon Wehr. The celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, in San Clemente, California, between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. In a heartfelt statement posted on social media, the family invited members of the car community to join them, noting that James held a significant place in the hearts of many enthusiasts.
Details of the Tragic Accident
James Wehr, 27, and Alexis Kramer, 22, were involved in a fatal collision in Irvine, California, during the early hours of Sunday, September 13. According to reports from the Irvine Police Department, the accident occurred when the 2019 McLaren supercar operated by Wehr struck a curb and a tree while traveling at high speed. The impact caused the vehicle to split into two sections and ignite.
The South OC Cars and Coffee organization, often recognized as one of the largest weekly automotive gatherings globally, confirmed James' identity as one of the victims through an official announcement supported by his parents, sister, and wife.
Ongoing Investigation
Family members of Alexis Kramer confirmed her identity as the second victim shortly after the incident, noting that she had traveled to California just days prior to spend the weekend with Wehr.
In the wake of the tragedy, legal counsel has been retained by Wehr’s widow to examine the factors that led to the crash. Attorney Corey Higgins stated:
«At the time of the collision, a significant amount of water was present on the roadway on an otherwise clear night, creating an extremely hazardous condition for any motorist. The source of that water is yet to be identified, and our firm is actively investigating how that water came to be there, how long that condition had existed and who may ultimately bear responsibility.»
