Public Claims of Family Conflict
Neil Perry, aged 36, has taken to social media to express his frustrations regarding his departure from his family’s musical group, The Band Perry. In a recent TikTok video, Perry shared a snippet of a new song from his solo project, WOLVESofJUNE, while making sharp comments about his exit from the band.
In his social media post, Perry suggested a rift between family members, writing, «Some families play board games. Others take each other’s life’s work.» He further quipped about the situation by labeling the group as «The Banned Perry.»
The Story Behind the Termination
This public statement follows Perry's claims made over a month ago that he had been officially «terminated» from the group. The band’s composition had previously undergone significant shifts; the original trio consisted of Neil and his siblings, Kimberly and Reid Perry. In 2025, Kimberly’s husband, Johnny Costello, joined the group, shortly before Reid’s departure.
Neil described the circumstances leading to his exit as a breakdown in professional and personal trust:
«By then, the situation had become about far more than the lineup. I had witnessed instability and broken trust that fundamentally changed my ability to move forward. Weeks later, I was terminated. The day after my birthday. I never expected that my decision not to participate under those circumstances would also mean losing my financial interest and access to the band’s platforms, resources and audience I had spent my life helping build.»
Neither Kimberly Perry nor Johnny Costello has provided a public response to these allegations.
A New Chapter: WOLVESofJUNE
Despite the end of his tenure with The Band Perry, Neil Perry is moving forward with his creative career. He views his new solo project, WOLVESofJUNE, as a byproduct of the difficulties he faced during the dissolution of his family's working relationship.
«I watched a story emerge that didn’t resemble the one I lived. The anger became music. The grief became songs. The loss became freedom,» Perry shared. «June 2024 took the old life. WOLVESofJUNE is what came next.»
Context on the Group’s Hiatus
The Band Perry, which saw early success while the members were still children, had previously entered a hiatus in 2022. Kimberly Perry explained the reasoning behind that pause during an interview on the Bobbycast podcast earlier this year. She noted that after years of relentless touring, the siblings needed to prioritize their mental and spiritual well-being before potentially reuniting three years later.
