Progressing Health Challenges
Sumit Singh, known for his appearance on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, has provided a candid update regarding the health of his wife, Jenny Slatten. The 68-year-old reality star is currently battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a degenerative condition that impacts the nervous system and causes progressive muscle weakness.
In a recent social media update, 37-year-old Sumit shared that Jenny's condition is deteriorating. “Unfortunately, the ALS is progressing and now it’s starting showing more in her talking, like, it’s hard for her to talk now,” Sumit explained, as Jenny confirmed that her speech has become significantly limited due to the disease. Additionally, the couple revealed that the illness is increasingly affecting her balance and mobility.
The Struggle for Medical Care and Visa Hurdles
Since their marriage, the couple has been residing in India. However, they have faced significant obstacles in securing specialized care for Jenny's diagnosis. According to Sumit, the medical facilities and expertise available to them locally are limited when it comes to managing the complexities of ALS.
The couple’s primary goal is to relocate to the United States so that Jenny can access more robust treatment and a better support system. Sumit noted the urgency of the situation, stating:
“We love each other, and obviously, I want Jenny to start getting treated and I want Jenny to start feeling better or at least have a support system that makes her not struggle every day.”
Currently, the main barrier remains the visa process. Sumit stated that he has not yet received approval for a U.S. visa, which has kept the couple from moving forward with their plans. While Jenny could travel alone, she remains committed to staying in India because it has become her home, and she is unwilling to leave without her husband by her side.
Seeking Support
Drawing inspiration from other reality stars, such as Armando Neidermeier-Rubio—who previously utilized legal assistance to navigate complex visa requirements—the couple is now reaching out for help. They are currently sharing their story and appealing for assistance to overcome these bureaucratic challenges, hoping that sharing their situation will help them secure the necessary documentation to prioritize Jenny’s medical needs.
