A Rapid Transition to Public Life

Ann Michael Maye, the spouse of New England Patriots signal-caller Drake Maye, has experienced a meteoric rise in public visibility following her husband's move to the professional football stage. Reflecting on the journey that has unfolded over the past two years, the 22-year-old described the experience as a true "whirlwind."

"I feel like everything happened so, so fast," Ann Michael noted during the recent MayeDay Celebrity Softball Classic. "I mean, I was literally in college two years ago today." The couple, who first met during their middle school years in Huntersville, North Carolina, have navigated this significant life shift together.

Embracing the New England Community

Despite the sudden fame, Ann Michael expressed genuine appreciation for how the community has welcomed them. "It’s so crazy but so cool to see all the people and everyone has been so great, so kind to us, received us so well, and so we’ve grown to love this place in a short amount of time," she shared. She also highlighted the success of their charity initiative, noting how their spontaneous ideas evolved into a high-profile community event.

The MayeDay Celebrity Softball Classic

Held on Sunday, May 31, the 2026 event featured a star-studded lineup. The teams were managed by Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Notable participants included:

  • Comedian Matt Rife
  • Patriots legend Julian Edelman
  • Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy
  • San Jose Sharks center Will Smith
  • Various current New England Patriots players

Ann Michael proved to be a formidable presence on the diamond, hitting a clean single up the middle during the game. When asked about her skills, she modestly remarked, "I played some softball back in my day," while Drake chimed in to support her, adding: "Great athlete. Still is."

A Commitment to Charity

Beyond the entertainment, the primary objective of the event was to support local healthcare. "It’s for the kids. For Boston Children’s," Drake explained. "It’s what we want to do. It means a lot to us." Ann Michael echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of utilizing their platform to give back to the Boston Children’s Hospital while keeping the atmosphere fun and competitive for all involved.
