The Future of the FBI Team
Dick Wolf’s hit series FBI, which first captivated audiences in 2018, is officially set to return for its ninth season. The show, which chronicles the high-stakes lives of federal agents stationed in New York City, has faced numerous emotional hurdles, most notably the tragic death of Erin, the sister of Special Agent Maggie Bell (played by Missy Peregrym), at the hands of a serial killer.
Regarding the heavy emotional toll her character has faced, Peregrym spoke to Deadline earlier this year about the importance of depicting grief on screen. She noted, «I think it’s really important what we’re doing, because we’re highlighting how to move forward. Everybody experiences loss. Everybody goes through the depths of emotions in life.»
Peregrym added that while the intensity of the storyline initially intimidated her, she views the challenge as a creative opportunity: «It just feels like we’re doing a new show again. Do you know what I mean? And maybe that’s a gift.»
Cast Updates for Season 9
As the series moves forward, here is the status of the primary cast members:
- Missy Peregrym: Despite speculation following her character’s recent trauma, Peregrym is set to continue her role as Maggie Bell.
- Zeeko Zaki: Fans can rest assured that Zaki’s character, OA, remains a key part of the team, though his narrative path will shift slightly following his recent undercover operations.
- Jeremy Sisto: The fan-favorite Jubal Valentine is confirmed to remain a central figure as the show heads into its new installment.
- Alana de la Garza: Having evolved from a guest star in the inaugural season to a series staple, de la Garza will return as Isobel Castille.
- John Boyd: Given the popularity of his character, Stuart Scola, there is no indication of his departure, much to the relief of the show’s dedicated fanbase.
- Juliana Aiden Martinez: After her introduction in season 8, Martinez is optimistic about continuing her journey as Eva Ramos.
Reflecting on her addition to the cast, Martinez shared in an interview: «When you join a new show, you get the opportunity to do something different. It was definitely like, ‘OK, how can you show different sides of a profession? How can you show how different women approach something differently?’»
