Embracing Self-Love as a New Parent

Hailee Steinfeld is reflecting on her personal growth following the birth of her first child with husband Josh Allen. In a recent edition of her Beau Society newsletter, the 29-year-old actress shared that the most profound lesson she has learned is the necessity of demonstrating unconditional self-love.

Steinfeld and Allen, 30, welcomed their daughter in April. While she admits that she is still adjusting to the rhythms of the postpartum period, her primary objective is to lead by example.

“During these early stages of motherhood, specifically with raising a daughter, I’ve realized that how I see myself is how she’ll see herself. It’s that simple,”
she noted.


Navigating the Postpartum Journey

The actress has been candid about the fluctuating pace of her new life. She previously described these past few months as feeling both incredibly busy and strangely quiet. To support her transition into motherhood, Steinfeld received a thoughtful postpartum care package from fellow actress Ayo Edebiri. She shared that she uses the items in the kit on a daily basis.

Additionally, Edebiri gifted her a copy of the book The First 40 Days. Steinfeld found the text particularly impactful, noting how it highlights the often-overlooked vulnerability of the mother during the postpartum phase:

  • It acknowledges that the mother remains in a sensitive state long after delivery.
  • It encourages being gentle with oneself physically, mentally, and spiritually.
  • It serves as a reminder to prioritize self-care while navigating the early stages of parenthood.

Beyond literature, Steinfeld has been actively consulting with her doula regarding her nutritional needs to ensure she is supporting her recovery effectively.


Celebrating Milestones

The arrival of their daughter coincided closely with a significant milestone for the couple: their first wedding anniversary. Steinfeld shared that they marked the occasion by revisiting their wedding footage and looking back at the very first photographs they took together as a couple. Reflecting on their journey, she remarked on how much their lives have transformed in just one year, cherishing the memories and growth they have experienced together.
