Jeana Keough, best known for her role on The Real Housewives of Orange County, is currently navigating a difficult phase in her ongoing battle with tongue cancer. Her daughter, Kara, recently took to social media to inform friends and family about a series of medical complications that have stalled her mother's treatment plan.
In a heartfelt update shared on Tuesday, July 21, 37-year-old Kara posted a photo of the 70-year-old former reality star resting in a hospital bed. She explained that while Jeana was prepared for a surgical procedure to insert a G-tube for vital nutrition, her health status has become more complex.
Medical Complications Delay Surgery
The situation has been exacerbated by two significant health concerns. Kara detailed the setbacks, stating:
«Jeana was scheduled to get the G-tube this morning so she can get some nutrition. She hasn’t been able to eat a meal for 2 weeks, so she’s extremely depleted. We uncovered a DVT clot in her leg, and now an infection, too. The feeding tube can’t be put directly into her stomach until there’s clarity on the infection.»
Despite the severity of these obstacles, Kara noted that her mother remains in high spirits and is eager to proceed with her medical care. «You better believe Jeana is insisting she only had a ‘fake fever’ and that she’s fine to continue with the surgery,» Kara added with a touch of humor. The family is currently focusing on clearing the infection so the feeding tube can be placed as soon as possible.
Family Support and Outlook
The reality star's children remain hopeful about her recovery. Her son, Shane, recently spoke about his mother’s resilience and the strong support system surrounding her in Orange County, California. He emphasized that the family is doing everything possible to ensure she adheres to her treatment program.
Regarding the long-term prognosis, Kara expressed confidence in her mother’s fighting spirit: «I think she’ll get cancer to bend to her will, like she does with everything else in life. We’re choosing to stay in that mindset.»
