A Memorable First Impression
Actress Leslie Mann recently shared a candid story about her initial meeting with her Spa Weekend co-star, Adam Demos. During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Smith Sisters Live on August 12, the 54-year-old star confessed that she found herself surprisingly overwhelmed when meeting the 41-year-old actor for the first time.
The source of her nerves? Having spent a significant amount of time binge-watching Demos’s highly publicized and explicit performance in the Netflix series Sex/Life during the COVID-19 lockdown. “I was quarantining alone, and I had that connection,” Mann admitted with a blush, sparking laughter among her fellow cast members, including Isla Fisher.
Struggling to Keep Cool
Mann explained that the experience of seeing so much of the actor on screen made their transition to a professional working relationship feel awkward. Recalling the moment Demos walked into their rehearsal with directors Scott Moore and Jon Lucas, she noted that her attempts to appear collected failed miserably.
«I was really sweating and I remember looking at him in the eye and trying to, you know, just be cool and my eyes went back and forth, like, they just shifted,» she described.
While Mann felt she was acting uncharacteristically flustered, Demos maintained that he was simply focused on making a good impression in his new film project. He noted that they were both likely projecting their own anxieties about the work ahead.
Transitioning to 'Spa Weekend'
Despite the initial nerves, Mann praised Demos for his professionalism and calm demeanor during that first meeting. The pair is now set to star together in the upcoming film Spa Weekend, which follows a group of four friends—played by Mann, Fisher, Anna Faris, and Michelle Buteau—who head to a luxury retreat for some much-needed relaxation.
While Demos will not be reprising the raunchy persona he became famous for on television, he portrays another charming character in the film. The movie’s trailer hints at his role as a flirtatious figure at the resort, with a humorous exchange where a character played by Mann suggests that the spa specifically recruits attractive Australian men to entertain the guests.
Spa Weekend is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Friday, August 21.
