Incident Overview in Washington County

A Missouri man, identified as Nicholas Geary, was taken into custody following a violent domestic incident. According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect allegedly shot his pregnant girlfriend in the back after repeatedly striking her in the abdomen.

Escalating Threats Prior to Violence

Authorities revealed that the victim had reported prior threats from the suspect in the days leading up to the shooting. According to the official press release, the victim stated that Geary had specifically expressed his intent to harm her unborn child.

“The victim reported that her boyfriend had threatened to shoot her in the days leading up to the incident,”
the report noted, highlighting that the suspect had made repeated remarks about shooting her in the stomach to kill the baby.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

Following the shooting, Geary contacted 911, claiming he had acted in self-defense. However, physical evidence and statements from the victim contradicted his account. Despite the victim initially expressing a desire not to press charges, legal officials determined that formal intervention was necessary to protect both her and the unborn child due to the severe escalation of violence.

Geary is currently facing the following charges:

  • Attempted murder
  • Domestic assault
  • Unlawful use of a weapon
  • Armed criminal action

The suspect is being held without bond at the Washington County Jail. As of now, it remains uncertain whether he has secured legal counsel or entered a formal plea.
