A Turning Point for the Couple
The latest season of the hit series Sullivan’s Crossing has left fans reeling following a major development between Maggie, played by Morgan Kohan, and Cal. The central conflict stems from an unexpected kiss between Maggie and her estranged husband, Liam, which has cast doubt on her current relationship.
Reflecting on the impact of this moment, 32-year-old Kohan shared her thoughts in a recent interview. “It’s a huge shakeup, no matter what,” she noted. “That’s going to absolutely rattle the foundation of any relationship.” Despite the turmoil, the actress remains optimistic about the core couple: “No matter how solid you are — and maybe the more solid you are — the harder it is to work through that. I think Cal and Maggie are meant to be, so I have hope for them.”
The Complexity of Maggie’s Past
The tension intensified as viewers learned the truth about Liam (Marcus Rosner). Initially introduced as a summer fling, it was later revealed that Liam did not abandon Maggie for a career opportunity, but had instead been held hostage while working as a war journalist. This revelation led to an impulsive moment of connection between the two.
Kohan described the scene as an overwhelming emotional release for her character:
«I feel like it wasn’t necessarily a decision for her. Something so physical happened and to have such a shock to your whole system of falling through a floor and being like, “Can I breathe even?” It just completely cracked her open. It was just like all of the stuff that she’s held in for so long — it all broke her open.»
Looking Ahead
While the character dynamics remain complex, Kohan expressed her appreciation for the show's cast and creative direction. Regarding the potential future of Liam’s character, she noted that the entire production team enjoys working with Rosner and would welcome his presence on screen in any capacity. She added that she is pleased the storyline has provoked such a passionate response from the audience.
Looking toward future episodes, Kohan expressed a desire to dive deeper into Maggie’s backstory. She particularly enjoyed filming scenes that explored Maggie’s life before her return to the Crossing. “What I really loved about all of that was getting to do the flashbacks and really seeing the younger version of Maggie,” she shared. “Seeing her fully letting go and just going with what was happening in front of her… I’ve really loved getting to see.”
Sullivan’s Crossing is currently available for streaming on Netflix, with new episodes of season 4 airing on The CW every Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
