Emerging details regarding the tragic death of social media personality Sara Gilson have shed light on the moments leading up to the incident. Authorities in Owasso, Oklahoma, responded to an emergency call placed on July 23 by a minor living in the residence.
According to reports, a police dispatcher relayed chilling details to first responders, noting, «I’m trying to reach him back, but I could hear a female in the background screaming and crying. Some sort of loud bang in the background.»
The Circumstances Behind the Tragedy
Sara Gilson, 43, and her estranged husband, Shawn Duffey, 48, were both found deceased in their Oklahoma home. The incident occurred just two weeks after Gilson utilized her TikTok platform—where she had a following of approximately 69,000—to publicly accuse Duffey of pedophilia. Duffey did not respond to these public allegations before his death.
In one viral TikTok video, Gilson addressed the situation, stating: «Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon-to-be ex-husband, who I just found out is a pedophile.»
Legal Protections and Allegations
Legal documents indicate that a protective order had been issued against Duffey on July 10 on behalf of Gilson’s 15-year-old daughter. The order, which was set to remain in effect until August 24, required Duffey to vacate the family home and maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from Gilson.
Local reports suggest that the protective order stemmed from claims that Duffey had inappropriately touched the teenager, who had been a member of a youth basketball team he coached. These alleged actions were reportedly witnessed by another coach.
