The Transformative Power of Fatherhood

For Nick Jonas, the journey into parenthood has served as a profound catalyst for personal and spiritual growth. During a recent appearance on the Hey Jonas! podcast, the 33-year-old artist shared that his role as a father to his four-year-old daughter, Malti, whom he shares with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, has fundamentally reshaped his worldview.

Jonas noted that the current state of global instability has led many individuals to seek a stronger connection with their faith. Regarding his own experience, he explained, «Becoming a father really shaped things for me and made me want to dig deep and talk about the central theme of my new song, which is that there is a plan for your life and you don’t have to be a person that believes in Jesus and God to understand that there’s some plan in place.»

Creative Collaboration and Faith

This introspection inspired Jonas to collaborate with Christian artist Brandon Lake on the single titled «The Author,» released last month. The project was deeply personal for Jonas, who sought to capture the feeling of comfort that comes with trusting the direction of one's life.

«I was really inspired to say, ‘How can I put this feeling that I know my life is in good hands into a song?’» Jonas remarked. He emphasized the power of creative partnerships, noting that the collaboration allowed two artists from different backgrounds to unite around a universal message: «It’s the beautiful thing about collaboration is that two very different walks of life — different experiences — can come together to do something that has real impact and is based in both biblical truth but also just the main truth, which is love.»

The Role of Empathy in Modern Music

The conversation also touched upon the recent actions of fellow artist Justin Bieber, who utilized his Coachella headlining performance as a platform to share his religious faith through song and prayer. Jonas described Bieber’s openness as «beautiful.»

While the recording session for «The Author» took place months before the festival, Jonas observed that such public expressions of belief are meaningful. According to the artist, these moments serve to foster important discussions regarding empathy and compassion, values he believes are essential in the modern era.
