The Big Reveal

The first season of Off Campus concluded with a bombshell that left viewers reeling, particularly regarding the identity of the mysterious character who became entangled with Allie (Mika Abdalla). While initially introduced as a man named Carter, the finale revealed the true identity of the character to be Hunter Davenport, played by Charlie Evans.

During the season, Allie was navigating a casual relationship with Dean (Stephen Kalyn) while simultaneously sparking a connection with this enigmatic stranger. The final moments of the season saw a tense confrontation between Dean and Hunter, hinting at a complex history involving Dean’s sister, Summer, and her past relationship with Hunter.

Behind the Casting Process

Reflecting on how he landed the role, Evans shared that he initially auditioned for the part of Carter St. James V with limited information.

«I knew he was wealthy and that he played for a rival team, but I didn't realize who he actually was until after I secured the role,»
Evans told Swooon.

Teasing Season 2

Evans provided a glimpse into the future of the series, suggesting that the upcoming season will delve deeper into Dean’s personal narrative.

«Creator Louisa Levy has a stellar layout for season 2. It’s all about Dean’s world, his history, and everyone close to him,»
he teased. While he remained tight-lipped on specific plot details, he did not rule out a potential meeting between his character and Summer, noting that the show’s structure is designed to be highly adaptive.

According to Evans, the production team is meticulously planning the narrative arc by drawing directly from the source material.

«I’ve been in those rooms and seen the boards. They have the books out and are pulling pages; it’s really impressive,»
he remarked. He emphasized that the climactic ending was a strategic setup designed to pull all the key players into the same orbit, ensuring a seamless transition into the next chapter.

Character Evolution and Growth

Looking ahead, Evans expressed enthusiasm about exploring the layers of Hunter Davenport, particularly his vulnerabilities and the personal challenges he faces. He hinted that the story will focus on stripping away the facade built by societal and familial expectations.

«It’s about seeing him drop the BS and get into a place of realness, shedding the structural walls he’s built up,»
Evans concluded.
