The Reality of Vaping Consequences

Selena Gomez has recently been transparent about her battle with nicotine addiction, revealing that frequent vaping has resulted in permanent changes to her voice. In a candid video shared via her Instagram Story, the 34-year-old star addressed the issue with a focus on recovery.

«I’m not going to be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot and just so everyone knows, that’s somewhat … vaped. Nicotine is so hard to quit and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it or even if you’re trying to vape, it’s just not worth it,» Gomez shared.

The Only Murders in the Building actress, who has been spotted with vaping devices on multiple occasions over the years—from outings in Rome to personal preparations for events—noted that she has since ceased the habit and is hopeful about maintaining her progress. Addressing those who might notice a difference in her vocal quality, she added: «It’s so stupid and it’s changed my voice so if you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable. I don’t mind, just don’t listen.»

Past Concerns and Health Awareness

This is not the first time the singer has addressed concerns regarding her health and habits. During a previous Instagram Live session, she spoke openly about physical symptoms she experienced, mentioning that she occasionally suffered from throat swelling. At the time, she expressed appreciation for the honesty of her followers, stating, «I’m glad y’all are being real with me on the Live.»

Embracing Aging and Moving Forward

Despite the challenges associated with breaking her nicotine habit, Gomez maintains a positive outlook on life and aging. Reflecting on her personal journey, she noted, «I don’t feel like it’s a bad thing. Getting older has been so fun. I’m not scared at all. I love getting older. Things are going to change and things are going to sag, but you’re alive. I think age is just a number in many ways.»

Following her public admission, the star shared several updates on social media, including a casual mirror selfie and images showcasing her glowing skin, signaling a return to her routine and a focus on her various projects, including her beauty brand, Rare Beauty.
