Reflecting on Beauty Queens Taken Too Soon

The beauty pageant world has, on several occasions, been struck by profound sadness following the untimely deaths of former titleholders. These women, who once stood in the spotlight, left behind lasting legacies that continue to impact their communities and fans.

The Passing of Kseniya Alexandrova

In 2025, the industry mourned the loss of Kseniya Alexandrova, the winner of Miss Universe Russia 2017. Alexandrova, who was 30 years old, passed away as a result of a severe automobile accident. Following the news, her representation at the Modus Vivendis agency released a heartfelt statement:

«It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our colleague and friend, model Ksenia Alexandrova, passed away last night. Ksenia was bright, talented and extraordinarily bright.»

Losses in Jamaica and Mexico

The sorrow continued shortly after Alexandrova’s passing. Just one month later, the community was saddened by the death of Jamaican beauty queen Tyra Spaulding at the age of 26. In an official tribute, the Miss Universe Jamaica organization remarked on her impact:

«She was a radiant soul and an amazing human being. Her light, grace, beauty and kind spirit touched every life she encountered, leaving memories that will never fade.»

The string of tragedies also extended to Mexico and beyond. In April 2026, former Mexican pageant titleholder Carolina Flores Gomez was discovered deceased in her home, having suffered fatal gunshot wounds. Later that same year, the Miss Jamaica organization confirmed that former finalist LaToya Malcolm had passed away in July.
