Kwame Appiah and Chelsea Griffin were confident they would both say “I do” before the finale of Love Is Blind season 4. Kwame told Us Weekly in March 2023 that a couple of days before the wedding, he realized he needed to make a firm decision to avoid regret. To solidify their commitment, the couple signed a lease for an apartment in Seattle, showing they were ready to move forward together.
Kwame, originally based in Portland, met Chelsea during the Seattle edition of Netflix's pod experiment. While developing a connection with her, he also had feelings for Micah Lussier. However, Micah chose ex-fiancé Paul Peden over him. After initial heartbreak, Kwame realized Chelsea was the perfect match for him.
After overcoming a love triangle, Kwame and Chelsea faced another obstacle when his mother initially disapproved of their union. She eventually came around following their May 2022 wedding. Chelsea shared with Us Weekly that her first visit to meet Kwame's mother was amazing, and she felt at home the moment she entered their house.
