Production has resumed for Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, but questions remain about which cast members will return.

The show, which debuted on Hulu in 2024, originally featured Jen Affleck and husband Zac Affleck, Demi Engemann and husband Bret Engemann, Whitney Leavitt and husband Conner Leavitt, Mikayla Matthews and husband Jace Terry, Mayci Neeley and husband Jacob Neeley, Jessi Draper and Jordan Ngatikaura, Taylor Frankie Paul and then-partner Dakota Mortensen, and Layla Taylor. Miranda McWhorter joined in Season 2 after her split from Chase McWhorter.

After four seasons and crossovers with Vanderpump Villa, production halted in March 2026 following an alleged domestic violence incident between Taylor and Dakota in February. Both filed temporary restraining orders; Dakota received temporary custody of their son Ever, while Taylor was granted supervised visits. Filming has since restarted, but Taylor's return is uncertain.

Jen Affleck and husband Zac will appear in Season 5, with Jen also teasing a role in the Orange County spinoff. Demi Engemann likely won't return after a limited Season 4 role, though it's unconfirmed. Whitney Leavitt is unsure about returning, as she and Conner live in New York City while she performs in Broadway's Chicago. Mikayla Matthews hinted that Season 5 will address her separation from Jace Terry. Mayci Neeley filmed for Season 5 while her sister McCall DaPron leads the Orange County cast.

A source told Us Weekly that producers and cast have welcomed Taylor back, but she is focused on her mental health and may return in the future. Dakota will not be involved. Layla Taylor's breakup with Mason McWhorter between seasons will be mentioned. Miranda McWhorter's storyline will address her ex Chase kissing her friend Jessi.
